What is (BMS) Battery management system

A battery management system (BMS) is an electronic device or system that manages and monitors the rechargeable batteries in a specific application. It ensures that the batteries operate within their safe operating limits, maximize battery life, and prevent failures that could lead to safety hazards.

The BMS performs various functions such as:

*Monitoring cell voltages, temperature, and other parameters to prevent overcharging and over-discharging of the battery
*Balancing cell voltages to ensure that they remain equal or close to equal, thus avoiding cell damage or performance degradation.
*Providing data on battery state of health (SOH) and state of charge (SOC) to the user or the application
*Controlling the charging and discharging rates to prevent damage to the battery
*Detecting and preventing any anomalies or faults that may occur in the battery.

BMS is used to optimize battery performance, improve safety, and reduce the cost of battery maintenance in various applications such as electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and other energy storage systems.
